My Travel Map

In Yayawar on October 14, 2008 at 8:15 amI visited the world’s romance city on October 12, 2008, Sunday. It couldn’t have been a perfect day. Started early from hotel in Brussels and reached Paris Nord station at 9.00 AM. Thalys has wide network in Europe and connects a number of places. Before that, since I made a late booking so the tickets were on a high rate. It’s good to learn that if you are planning for the Europe trips book it in advance because that saves a lot of cost and you can have a less hurried and well planned journey.
I had a croissant and cappuccino, after taking the tourist day pass for the Paris metro. My plan was to cover Eiffel Tower (go to the top), sight seeing cruise and cover the much famed Louvre Museum and return to Eiffel Tower to see the evening lights. To err is the human; so I took the metro in the opposite side. I realized it soon and checked the fellow traveler and ask him to show me the route to tower in the map. I got down at Simplon metro station; surprisingly I saw a lot of footpath shops and a number of south Asians. It’s noticeable, in Paris there is significant population of south Asians and the Africans. After a small walk I went back inside the metro and confirmed the metros to Eiffel with the information desk. The lady was kind enough to mark the trains for me. It’s funny though, English spoken with a French accent becomes a puzzle sometime; but okay as long as communication happens and serves its purpose.
So I took a metro # 4 for the Saint Denis and from there took a metro 9 to Trocadero station and it just took around 25 minutes to reach the destination. It was long underground walk to come out and on the street to reach Eiffel. As soon as I completed the stairs and turned right, there it was the magnificent piece of Gustav Eiffel standing. The rising sun has added a glory into it and it was soothing cold fall morning. I felt elated. I just waited the moment to sink in. I wished ‘A’ could have been with me. After a while I took my camera to start the shoots.
It was a mild sunny morning with some magic around Eiffel which elated whole of my spirit and the being.
View from the 3rd floor (top most) of Paris city.
Later I took the cruise and visited Notre Dam basilica and the Louvre museum. Though legs were paining like crazy but it was worth the fruit.
I retuned to Eiffel and asked someone to take a picture of mine with tower. Traveling alone is fun but you rely on others to take your pictures. The evening slowly fell on the tower and converted itself to a dark background making the stage ready for the human lights to show the glory of the masterpiece.
